McHOSE AND CHIUSANO: RHETORIC WON’T DELIVER PROPERTY TAX REFORM

-

November 5, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Republican members Alison Littell McHose and Gary Chiusano, both R-Sussex, Morris, and Hunterdon, issued the following statements regarding Monday’s Committee hearings in which Democrat leaders again failed to post property tax reform Tool Kit legislation:

McHose:

“Of the 13 committees that should be meeting Monday, only nine are scheduled to meet and, yet again, not one property tax reform bill has been posted for a hearing. Since it’s hard to believe the Democrats don’t understand the urgency of equipping local government officials with the tools they will need 53 days from today to work within the new tax levy cap law, one can only conclude that protecting New Jersey taxpayers is not one of their priorities. A bipartisan contingent of mayors from across our state should come to Trenton every committee day and demand that these Tool Kit bills be posted.”

Chiusano:

“Another opportunity to move property tax reform legislation towards a floor vote will be wasted again Monday since none of the bills are scheduled to be heard. Instead of debating and voting on civil service, arbitration and pension reform legislation which is necessary for mayors to keep their budgets within the cap, lawmakers will be discussing a sales tax exemption for student parking at certain colleges and universities. Clearly, the majority party is not interested in providing meaningful reform. All they have delivered are empty promises and plenty of rhetoric.”
