WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Republican Whip Scott Rumana, R-Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic, responded today to Democrat Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald’s statement this weekend in the Star-Ledger that Republicans weren’t interested in participating in a bipartisan panel on property taxes:
“As Assembly budget chairman for 10 years, Majority Leader Greenwald has presided over some of the largest tax increases in state history, causing a mass exodus of New Jersey residents, while the Assembly Republicans have introduced proposals to reduce property taxes for our dwindling tax base. Republicans have never said we weren’t interested in meeting in a panel discussion or special session to address this problem. The truth is, the Democrat-controlled Legislature continues to block any reform that would get property taxes under control and benefit taxpayers.”
