Lt. Governor Guadagno Joins Daytop New Jersey, Inc. to Open New Pittsgrove Outpatient Building
Trenton, NJ – June 18, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Continuing the Administration’s work to treat addiction as an illness, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno today joined Daytop New Jersey, Inc. to open its new adolescent outpatient and administration facility at Daytop’s residential Pittsgrove site.
“Addiction is a disease that should be treated as just that. As a former sheriff, I’ve seen that a system of punishment without treatment is a revolving door that feeds addiction and is totally unacceptable,” said Lt. Governor Guadagno. “This new facility is a symbol of hope for families and friends that a loved one’s life can and will be saved, that a young person who has an addiction is not lost. That’s what the people at Daytop do every day and will continue to do in this new facility. Thanks to you, these kids will have a chance to do something incredible with their lives.”
The state-of-the-art, 11,000-square-foot facility, supported by grants from the New Jersey Department of Human Services and the Salem Health and Wellness Foundation, will offer academic programs, individual and group therapy, psychiatric services, adventure-based counseling, co-occurring substance abuse and mental health assessment, workshops and re-entry and life skills programs, among others.
“At a time when the citizens of our state are in the throes of one of the most devastating heroin epidemics in our state’s history, the new facility will allow Daytop New Jersey to serve more young people and their families. The need has never been greater,” said James Curtin, President and CEO of Daytop New Jersey.
Annually, Daytop New Jersey delivers comprehensive substance abuse treatment and education programs to more than 500 teenagers, adults and their families. Daytop’s programs are individualized, family-based, cost-effective, peer-oriented and multi-disciplinary in nature. In addition to the Pittsgrove site, Daytop operates outpatient facilities in Hunterdon, Parsippany and Ocean Counties and residential programs in Mendham and Skillman.
