DeCROCE: ASSEMBLY DEMOCRATS NOT LISTENING TO TAXPAYERS – NO TOOL KIT ITEMS ON MONDAY’S COMMITTEE AGENDAS

-

November 15, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Democrats have cancelled four committee meetings on Monday, while the other six will consider 19 bills, none of which deals with the property tax reform measures contained in Governor Christie’s Tool Kit. Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce, R-Morris and Passaic, said today it can’t be any clearer that the majority party does not believe that the issue of property taxes is the number one priority of New Jersey taxpayers.

“Assembly Democrats are taunting property taxpayers with the committee agendas scheduled for Monday,” said DeCroce. “The public spoke loud and clear on Election Day of their dissatisfaction with government which is reinforced by this week’s Quinnipiac poll regarding their discontent with the Legislature. But the Democrats think legislation regarding misplaced E-ZPass transponders is more important than property tax reform.”

According to the Quinnipiac survey, 51 percent of the respondents indicated they are unhappy with the job being done by the Legislature.

DeCroce noted that eight Assembly committees did not convene in November, and of the 60 bills considered, not one pertains to the property tax reforms needed to help local governments control spending in order to comply with the new Cap 2.0 law that takes effect in January.

“The public is justifiably angry at the obstinacy of the Democrats who refuse to even discuss the merits of the critical property tax reform legislation contained in the property tax reform Tool Kit,” continued DeCroce. “The Democrats have squandered another opportunity to address the needs of property taxpayers who want government spending controlled.”
