BRAMNICK SAYS ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES CONTINUE TO FREEZE OUT TAXPAYERS

-

November 15, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Republican Conference Leader Jon Bramnick said Monday’s scheduled Assembly committee hearings are more noteworthy for bills that are not listed on the panels’ agendas instead of the items that will be considered. Six committees will convene, but none will be evaluating any of the property tax reform legislation contained in the Tool Kit.

“It’s the fourth period and the Democrats would rather stall on the issue of property tax reform than score for taxpayers,” said Bramnick, R-Union, Essex, Morris and Somerset. “The average taxpayer will suffer a defeat if the Democrats don’t open up the discussion on civil service, arbitration and pension reform.”

Bramnick reiterated his call that the Legislature be convened as a Committee of the Whole to consider and vote on the property tax reform package.

“We need to have an open dialogue on the Tool Kit bills and put them to an up or down vote,” stated Bramnick. “Ignoring this issue won’t make it go away. It is time for us to take action and give local governments the tools they need to control spending and give property taxpayers the help they deserve.”
