Will Greenwald Renew His Property Tax Promise?

Assembly Budget Chairman’s “Fight To The Death” Needed Against Corzine’s Latest Property Tax Hike

Trenton, NJ – May 20, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce called on Democratic Budget Chairman Lou Greenwald to renew his February vow to “fight to the death” to preserve property tax rebates.

“Budget Chairman Greenwald wisely pointed out that reducing property tax rebates would make it even harder to achieve future reform,” DeCroce, R-Morris and Passaic, said. “He said that at a time when the governor was considering just a reduction in rebates. Now that Governor Corzine has announced the annihilation of property tax relief for all homeowners except seniors and the disabled, I encourage Greenwald to rejoin our effort to make New Jersey more affordable for property taxpayers.”

DeCroce said Greenwald’s help would be welcomed in opposition to a governor determined to make New Jersey families bear the brunt of seven years of irresponsible spending and borrowing under Democratic control.

“Governor Corzine is working every day to make sure New Jerseyans pay for the mistakes he and his Democratic colleagues have made,” DeCroce said. “We have recommended several places to cut wasteful and unnecessary spending, but Governor Corzine and the Democrats who control the Legislature would rather see middle class families disappear from New Jersey before making large-scale cuts that would hurt their political base or correct their last seven years of mismanaging state government.”
