Visits Bernardsville Construction Site To Accept ‘Defender of Housing Award’
BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) visited Bernardsville this week to accept the Defender of Housing Award from the National Association of Home Builders and the Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association of New Jersey.
While visiting an under-construction condominium project, Lance declared that “a strong building sector is a top economic indicator and a robust housing market helps keep our communities vibrant. Smart and sustainable growth boosts existing property values, shares the property tax burden and puts builders to work. I support policies that keep this industry moving.”
Lance was selected for Defender of Housing Award for his work on economic issues and for his strong support for position shared with National Association of Home Builders, such as tax reform, energy efficient construction, flood insurance protection and safe communities.
“Congressman Lance is among a group of lawmakers who have built a strong record of defending housing from unnecessary laws and regulations that drive up the cost of homes,” said Philip A. Calinda Jr., president of the Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association of New Jersey. “His positions and defense of common sense make it easier for families to achieve the American Dream of home ownership.”
The Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association of New Jersey represents about 300 builders, remodelers, tradespeople and professionals who work with the building industry across Essex, Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Union and Warren counties.
Lance accepted the award at 25 Mill Street, a condominium complex under construction in downtown Bernardsville. Calinda pointed out that the complex represents many of the features New Jersey home builders try to incorporate in their work: energy efficiency, sites that replace abandoned or aging structures with new, vibrant homes; a walkable community and locations close to public transportation.
