NJAR® Good Neighbor Awards to Recognize REALTORS®
EDISON, N.J. – July 13, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) is currently seeking nominations of REALTORS® who have acted as “good neighbors” through their dedication to community service. The NJAR® Good Neighbor Awards recognize REALTORS® who do more than help others buy and sell real estate in their community; they actively devote their time and resources to community service activities.
“There are many REALTORS® that work tirelessly day and night to improve the quality of life in their local communities and beyond,” said 2012 NJAR® President Gary Large. “It is important to recognize these individuals and applaud them for their efforts in helping others and in striving to build a better world.”
The NJAR® Good Neighbor Award serves to distinguish and thank those REALTORS® for their dedication and exceptional work. Members of the public and REALTOR® Association are all encouraged to nominate a REALTOR® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® at www.njar.com/story/339/.
Winners will receive a grant for their charity organization of choice in the amount of $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second, or $1,000 for third place. Winners also receive recognition during an awards ceremony at the 2012 Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo in Atlantic City, N.J. Additionally, winners will be recognized in the January/February issue of New Jersey REALTOR® magazine and be featured on NJAR®’s website, www.njar.com.
Just last year, NJAR® Good Neighbor Award first-place winner Donna Dilkes of the Meadowlands Board of REALTORS®, was recognized for spending countless hours taking care of the animals at the Humane Society of Lyndhurst, N.J., teaching religion education at Sacred Hearth Parish in Lyndhurst, and hosting “St. Joseph’s Day” each year to help increase donations for the parish.
NJAR® also recognized one of the co-founders and chairman, Rocky Balsamo (NJAR® Good Neighbor Award second-place winner and member of the Mercer County Association of REALTORS®) of a nonprofit organization titled Center for FaithJustice and located in Lawrenceville, N.J., dedicated to educating the youth of New Jersey to live in service to others and to work for justice for all.
Kevin Kinney of the West Essex Board of REALTORS®, and 2011 third-place winner, was recognized for his efforts with the St. Baldricks Foundation, which runs volunteer head-shaving events worldwide to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Through the NJAR® Good Neighbor Awards, these REALTORS® were able to raise additional funds for their organizations.
All NJAR® Good Neighbor Award entries must be received by September 14, 2012. Nominations should include published reports about the nominee’s community work and/or testimonials from organizations he/she served. In order to be eligible, an applicant’s community service must have been conducted, started or completed between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012, and applicants must be members of the Association in good standing. All entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges who have no affiliation to NJAR®.
