Property tax-rebate workshops are set in Willingboro

-

Willingboro, NJTwo workshops designed to help residents fill out their New Jersey property tax rebate applications will be held in Willingboro prior to the state’s Aug. 15 deadline.

The first workshop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kennedy Center off JFK Way in Willingboro. The second will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at the same location.

The two workshops will feature representatives from the state’s Division of Taxation. The events were organized by state Assemblymen Herb Conaway, D-7th of Delanco, and Jack Conners, D-7th of Pennsauken.

This year, the budget passed by the state Legislature included a new program that will provide rebates of up to 20 percent to households that make less than $100,000.

Households that make up to $150,000 will get up to a 15 percent rebate; households that make up to $250,000 will get up to a 10 percent rebate; and households that earn more than $250,000 don’t qualify for a rebate.

Seniors, meanwhile, will get to choose between the new initiative and existing tax relief programs, such as the senior property tax freeze, to ensure they don’t end up getting a smaller rebate than last year.
