Pallone Applauds Middlesex County for Effectively ending Veterans Homelessness
New Brunswick, NJ – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) applauded Middlesex County for being recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for having effectively ended veterans’ homelessness in the county. The Middlesex County freeholder board created a Veterans Housing Program in 2012 to assist veterans at risk of homelessness, committing $100,000 a year to the effort.
“It is our responsibility as a nation, when we put our men and women in harm’s way, to care for them when they come home,” said Pallone. “It is unacceptable for any veteran who has made such great sacrifices to sleep on our streets with nowhere to turn. I want to thank Chairman Rios and the Freeholder Board for their tireless work to end veteran’s homelessness in Middlesex. I hope that local governments in New Jersey and throughout the country look to Middlesex’s example as they try to better serve their veterans.”
