NJ Foreclosures Nothing to Brag About, says Network

Housing advocates dispute Christie State of the State data

Washington, D.C. – January 13, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Following Governor Christie’s State of the State speech where he lauded New Jersey’s status on foreclosures, Network President and Chief Executive Officer Staci Berger issued the following statement:

“35,733 foreclosure filings in 2015 is nothing to be proud of, in fact, we continue to lead the nation in record number foreclosures. We still have a crisis on our hands that won’t be resolved until New Jersey families are able to afford to stay in their homes.

“It’s unfortunate the governor would give praise to our foreclosure standings when just yesterday he conditionally vetoed a bill that would offer a reprieve to Sandy homeowners struggling to pay the mortgage. New Jersey’s foreclosure crisis is nowhere close to being over.”
