New Jersey Association of Realtors to Participate in Nationwide Open House Weekend Kicking off Spring Home Buying Season April 20 & 21, 2013

Edison, NJ – April 2, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Purchasing a home is one of the most important decisions in a person’s life, and choosing that house comes with an array of options. To assist buyers with this process, Realtors across New Jersey will host open houses during the Nationwide Open House Weekend on April 20 and 21. For sellers, this is a wonderful opportunity to get their homes in front of many buyers in a short period of time.

“Spring is typically a busy season when it comes to home buying, so it is a perfect time for sellers to showcase their homes,” said Christina Banasiak, President of the New Jersey Association of Realtors. “Additionally, it’s a great way for buyers to see what they can afford and what’s available in the neighborhoods where they’d like to live.”

Realtors will be available at open houses to answer questions about the home buying process and local market conditions. Buyers and sellers who are interested in participating in the weekend event should contact their Realtors directly. Consumers just beginning the house hunting process should visit www.Realtor.com to see open houses in their area and visit www.RealStoryNJ.com to search for a Realtor in New Jersey.

“Buyers need to have a clear idea of what features are important to them and know where they are willing to compromise,” Banasiak said, continuing, “That is where visiting open houses can be helpful. Also, working with a Realtor can be a real asset. Realtors visit hundreds of homes with buyers each year, and have a unique understanding of what buyers value in their local markets. Their expertise and knowledge can help buyers achieve the dream of homeownership.”

According to data from the National Association of Realtors, the typical recently purchased home was 1,860 square feet and was built in 1996. The typical buyer purchased a home with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. When it comes to home features, buyers prefer central air conditioning the most, while walk-in closets were second. The two most common rooms buyers were willing to spend more for were a laundry room and a den/home office.
