Furthering his commitment to the environment and modernizing critical New Jersey infrastructure, Governor Chris Christie signed legislation authorizing up to $1.94 billion in state financing for projects to improve drinking water and wastewater infrastructure across the state. The funding includes $776 million to upgrade and protect facilities from storms and flooding such as occurred during Superstorm Sandy.

Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today marked the completion of a water line extension that will provide a safe source of drinking water to 73 homes and businesses threatened by contaminated groundwater from the Combe Fill South Landfill Superfund site in Chester and Washington Townships in N.J. As a result, those homes and local businesses will no longer need treatment systems.
