Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced that Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) located in New Jersey’s 6th District will receive grants totaling $4.69 million in Operating Subsidy awards. The funding, which is awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), provides assistance to PHAs to help with the operation and management costs associated with public housing developments. Housing Authorities throughout the 6th District, in both Middlesex and Monmouth counties, will receive funding.

Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) joined his New Jersey colleagues, U.S. Reps. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (NJ-09), Albio Sires (NJ-08) and Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), in urging Governor Christie to revise the outdated NJ Statewide Water Supply Master Plan (NJSWSP), the planning mechanism by which New Jersey approaches management of its water needs. The last major reconsideration of the plan was adopted in 1996 under Governor Christine Todd Whitman.

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) applauds the passage of the Energy and Water Appropriations bill. When the bill passed today, it included two amendments sponsored by Rep. LaMalfa intended to roll back excessive regulations and protect California’s access to water supplies during the drought. The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency gave final approval today to a plan that returns a tax delinquent and condemned apartment house on Morris Street to taxpaying status, providing housing for 18 tenants in the future.

Acting on recommendations from The Interagency Council on Homelessness, Governor Chris Christie today announced the formation of a Working Group to further explore ways in which to reduce and prevent homelessness in New Jersey. Specifically, the Working Group will consider implementation of the proposals put forth by the Interagency Council, including Housing First policies, Rapid Re-Housing, and improved coordination among state agencies and social service providers that deliver key services to homeless individuals and families and those at risk of homelessness.

New Jersey remains at the top of the nation in terms of homes in foreclosure, and the changes come in response to feedback from Senators Menendez and Booker and other stakeholders.

DeNeal’s Café & Grill at 40 and 50 Union Avenue Medical/Professional Office Campus recently marked its grand opening on the ground floor of the eight-story, 52,000-square-foot 50 Union Ave., office tower. The Morris County Freeholders have approved a long-awaited $4.7 million Sussex Turnpike intersection improvement project designed to enhance safety and traffic flow on the busy road that runs through Randolph, and serves as a commuter route to and from Morristown, the County College of Morris and Route 10 in Roxbury

Known for coming in like a lion, March went out with a boom with almost $100 million in multi-family transactions arranged by Gebroe-Hammer Associates. The 13 trades involved a total 816 units located within the Northern and Southern New Jersey/Philadelphia corridor, extending from Sussex to Bucks County.

This grant comes in addition to $5.575 million already allocated to the buyout and demolition of properties in Woodbridge.
