Congressional Building Trades Caucus Launches Infrastructure Series
Norcross: “Making infrastructure a priority isn’t a red or a blue issue, it is an American safety issue.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Congressmen Donald Norcross (D-NJ) and David McKinley (R-WV) hosted a meeting of the Congressional Building Trades Caucus to discuss infrastructure issues and review the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) 2017 Infrastructure Report Card, which rated America’s infrastructure a D+. The conversation centered on the ASCE’s near-failing grade on our nation’s infrastructure and their assessment that $2 trillion over the next ten years is needed for improvement (which equates to $200 billion per year).
The meeting featured guest speaker Casey Dinges of ASCE and took place in the Longworth House Office Building. It was the first in a series of Caucus conversations on infrastructure.
“Making infrastructure a priority isn’t a red or a blue issue, it is an American safety issue. This meeting sounded the alarm that we can no longer ignore our crumbling infrastructure,” said Rep. Norcross. “To address this huge, nationwide problem, Democrats and Republicans need to unite around common goals. Investing in our infrastructure will make our communities and country safer, and it will put millions of Americans to work in good-paying jobs. Our Bipartisan Building Trades Caucus will continue to highlight how investing in the American worker makes us all stronger, and we look forward to leading work on this critical issue.”
