NJCDC’s Annual Holiday Gift & Food Drive to Serve Children and Families in Paterson
Washington, DC – December 09, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — 53% of all Paterson residents live in true poverty and have difficulty paying for food and basic necessities, let alone presents and holiday celebrations. To make their Christmas special, New Jersey Community Development Corporation’s (NJCDC’s) AmeriCorps members are spending the holiday season collecting toys, gifts, and food through the organization’s 22nd Annual Holiday Gift & Food Drive. The items will be distributed to thousands of disadvantaged Paterson children and families on Christmas Eve.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of individuals, local businesses, and large companies in the area and across the region, NJCDC’s AmeriCorps members distributed food and gifts to more than 2,000 Paterson children and families in need, who would otherwise receive little or nothing for Christmas. They are looking to make this year’s drive the most successful yet, and are collecting new unwrapped toys, gifts, and non-perishable food products. NJCDC is also asking for monetary donations, which will be used to purchase gift certificates for holiday meals for families in need.
Those looking to brighten Paterson children’s Christmas can bring unwrapped toys, gifts, and non-perishable food items to NJCDC’s headquarters at 32 Spruce Street, 3rd Floor in Paterson between 9:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays, purchase a toy through NJCDC’s Amazon wish list, host their own toy drive, or make a monetary donation.
The gifts will then be personally gift wrapped and tagged with each child’s name during the Wrap-A-Thon, December 14th -18th, 10:00am to 6:00pm, at NJCDC’s headquarters. Volunteers are needed for the Wrap-A-Thon.
