NJAR® to Work with Public Advocate to Educate Members on Tenants’ Rights During a Foreclosure
Edison, NJ- December 22, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) – New Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NJAR®) Executive Vice President Jarrod C. Grasso, RCE issued the following statement in reaction to Public Advocate Ronald Chen’s press conference reaffirming the rights of tenants during a foreclosure situation.“The Public Advocate’s office recently alerted us to the fact that some individuals may have provided inaccurate information or violated the rights of tenants during the foreclosure process. The foreclosure process is complex and NJAR® will take steps to inform our members about the proper course of action in dealing with foreclosed properties containing rental units.
“By no means, should the examples referenced today reflect on REALTORS® as a whole. This situation goes beyond real estate licensees, as there are many actors involved in the foreclosure process. The actions of these individuals are not an accurate depiction of the vast majority of real estate professionals. REALTORS® work hard to successfully meet the needs of their clients.”
