NJ Reaches Renewable Energy Milestone with 4,000th Solar Installation

-

Trenton, NJ – August 13, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Seven years ago the state had only six solar installations. Today it has more than 4,000. This week Governor Jon S. Corzine celebrated the achievement, noting New Jersey is a national leader in solar energy use.

Speaking at the Birch Arms, a showcase solar-powered, energy efficient housing facility in Paterson, for formerly homeless individuals with special needs, the Governor talked about New Jersey’s status as the fastest growing solar energy market in the United States.

“Today New Jersey continues to be ahead of the curve on energy preservation, implementation of innovative approaches to energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources,” Governor Corzine said. “Our ‘world-class’ status is credited to our commitment to environmentally responsible action and competitive marketplace initiative.”

In fact, New Jersey has more solar installations than Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas combined. California is the only state in the U.S. with more installations than New Jersey.

In October 2008, Governor Corzine unveiled New Jersey’s new Energy Master Plan, a roadmap to guide the state toward a responsible energy future with adequate, reliable energy supplies that are both environmentally responsible and competitively priced, with the aim of planning for New Jersey’s energy needs through 2020.
