Morristown, NJ – December 3, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) – Morris County will participate in this year’s Project Homeless Connect on Dec. 4.
The event is designed to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness within the community and to highlight the services available within Morris County to those without shelter. The Morris County Department of Human Services will join that day with a number of other civic, business and religious groups and government and community leaders in one location, St Peter’s Episcopal Church, 70 Maple Ave., in Morristown, where those in need will be able to familiarize themselves with what is available for them.
The participating agencies will be on hand from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to respectfully deliver hospitality, real services and information to those experiencing homelessness. The idea is to help move more people more quickly toward housing and stability and to help put an end to chronic homelessness.
Project Homeless Connect is an annual nationwide effort that began several years ago in San Francisco.
Morris County was the first county in New Jersey to participate three years ago. Now, all 21 counties in the state conduct Project Homeless Connect events.
The Morris County Freeholders have declared Dec. 4 to be “Project Homeless Connect Day” in the county, urging county residents work together to help solve the problems that lead to homelessness.
