Lautenberg, Menendez Announce $13.5 Million in Federal Homeless Assistance Grants for New Jersey

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 10, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced New Jersey will receive $13,542,890 in federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist homeless men and women in New Jersey access housing opportunities.

“This federal funding will help homeless men and women in New Jersey with the assistance and services they need to gain access to housing,” stated Lautenberg. “With this funding, we can help provide new opportunities to some of the state’s most hard pressed families and put more New Jerseyans in decent homes.”

“During these tough economic times, with a tight jobs market and high foreclosure rate, it is important for our state’s families and economy that those who are struggling the most can stay afloat,” said Menendez, Chairman of the Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development. “This investment will help these families gain stability and community-based support services to start on a path out of homelessness and into a more prosperous future.”
