GEIGERS MAKE THE MOVE TO DOWNTOWN NEW BRUNSWICK’S “HOTTEST” NEW DESTINATION AT THE VUE

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – April 24, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Commuter convenience topped the list when Michael and Maureen Geiger decided to move to a rental home in downtown New Brunswick from an apartment in Hoboken, N.J. a year ago. Both work in the healthcare industry, with Mr. Geiger driving to Cooper University Hospital in Camden and Mrs. Geiger serving as a medical device sales representative in the Bronx. The couple was seeking a convenient location that would provide equal travel time.

“While finding a home that offered a reasonable commute for both of us was certainly most important,” Mr. Geiger says, “we also wanted a more suburban location that still offered a distinct downtown feel. In addition, my parents live in Princeton and relocating would bring us closer to family.”

“When we originally did our due diligence on the New Brunswick apartment market, we chose a rental complex that seemed to be a nice place to live,” adds Mrs. Geiger. “However, after living there for nearly a year, we watched a brand new building being built in the downtown district, and we decided to take a look at what it had to offer.”

The new building Mrs. Geiger was referring to was The Vue, a 23-story, mixed-use property featuring a unique blend of luxury rental residences and Penthouse condominiums with direct walkway access to the New Brunswick Train Station, as well as nearby shopping, dining and culture. The Vue, which officially opened to the public in January, was developed by the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) and Pennrose Properties. The Marketing Directors, Inc. is the building’s exclusive marketing, sales and leasing agent.

“I watched the construction progress of The Vue every day while driving on Easton Avenue,” Mrs. Geiger recalls. “I was intrigued, so I went online for more information and placed my name on the priority wait list.”

The Geigers anxiously awaited the opportunity to learn more about the new property in New Brunswick. When the day arrived to tour the building, the couple came away incredibly impressed.

“The residences actually reminded us a lot of the apartments in Hoboken, with upscale finishes, hardwood floors and more,” Mr. Geiger says. “We also liked the fact that we’d be the first residents to live in the home and everything in the apartment would be brand new.”

With The Vue also offering first-class amenities, a desirable location and competitive monthly rents, the couple quickly realized it was a better choice for their lifestyle and decided to rent a two-bedroom residence.

“The Vue has a distinctive feel of a close-knit community for young professionals and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of it,” Mr. Geiger says. “And the overall convenience of the building, with the Barnes & Noble book store opening on the ground floor and proximity to downtown New Brunswick, certainly played a role in our decision to live there.”

“The location next to the train station was another major selling point,” Mrs. Geiger adds. “We still have many friends in Hoboken and New York City and can quickly take the train in to visit. We’re also closer to our son’s day care facility at Johnson & Johnson, and there’s incredible convenience within the building itself. The fact that we can just walk down the hall to the fitness center or enjoy the lounge is ideal.”

The Geigers moved into their new apartment in early April, joining a number of other residents who have begun moving into The Vue. Nearly 40% of the rental residences have been leased to date, while nearly 30% of the Penthouse condominium homes have been sold.

The residences at The Vue, which are situated on the prime upper floors of the building above retail and commercial space and a parking garage, include 150 luxury rental homes and 42 Penthouse condominiums occupying the top three floors.

The tallest building in the City of New Brunswick, The Vue is ideally situated on Somerset Street and Easton Avenue. In addition to the residences, the building will house 57,000 square-feet of retail space in its first two stories, including a full-scale Barnes & Noble book store and a Brother Jimmy’s BBQ restaurant, as well as a 657-space parking garage. The Vue is also located next to Rutgers University and is a short walk to all the entertainment and cultural attractions of New Brunswick.

One- and two-bedroom condominium homes at The Vue range in size from 773 to 1,216 square feet of living space and are initially priced from $295,000. The Vue also offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom rental homes with myriad upscale features. Monthly rents for these residences begin from $1,840.

Resort-like amenities include an attended, custom designed lobby; fully-equipped fitness center and residents-only lounge featuring a billiards table, flat screen televisions, WiFi business bar and a separate catering kitchen and conference room. The Vue has also partnered with Verizon’s Virtual Concierge service to provide residents with additional services such as dining and building event reservations, and the ability to manage local venders (i.e. drycleaner, florist, housekeeping service, etc.) remotely.
