DeCroce And Bramnick Praise Christie’s Choice Of Sen. Karrow To Lead Coah Task Force
Trenton, NJ – February 9, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce and Conference Leader Jon Bramnick both lauded Gov. Christie’s choice of former state Sen. Marcia Karrow to chair the newly formed Housing Opportunity Task Force that will study issues surrounding the Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) and its third round rules.
“Gov. Christie’s selection of Sen. Karrow to lead the task force is a wise one,” said DeCroce, R-Morris and Passaic. “Sen. Karrow’s public policy experience and familiarity with COAH will be invaluable in helping the committee achieve its objectives. She is fair and open-minded and will diligently study all the issues pertaining to affordable housing before reaching a conclusion. COAH has had a tremendous impact on property taxes in New Jersey and needs to be reexamined. Sen. Karrow is extremely qualified to carry out the governor’s order on this critical subject.”
Gov. Christie issued an executive order today shutting down COAH and creating the task force that is charged with examining each municipality’s affordable housing obligation while also considering how to preserve open space in the state. The commission has 90 days to prepare and issue a report to the governor.
“Sen. Karrow has impeccable credentials and is highly qualified to chair the governor’s task force,” stated Bramnick, R-Union, Essex, Morris and Somerset. “Her experience at both the local and state level will be an asset to the panel. Having worked with Sen. Karrow when she served in the Assembly, I know she is well-informed on this issue and will study it intently. I am confident that Gov. Christie selected the right person to lead the committee.”
