“We are eliminating unnecessary paperwork that costs taxpayer money yet fails to serve a purpose,” said Dancer, R-Ocean, Burlington, Middlesex and Monmouth. “This kind of useless bureaucratic redundancy is a waste of public money.”
Dancer’s legislation, A-4474, updates current law by deleting language that provides for a county to be notified of the admission of certain persons with developmental disabilities to residential services from the Division of Developmental Disabilities in the Department of Human Services (DHS). It also eliminates the requirement for the counties to maintain records of these persons, since the administrative duties associated with these admissions have been delegated to DHS at the State level.
“This bill identifies and stops the spending of public money on pointless requirements. Without any impact on the quality of services, we can potentially reduce property taxes by removing the burden of superfluous and duplicative administrative requirements for the counties,” Dancer stated.
