CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD LAUNCHES MOBILE MAINTENANCE IN NEW JERSEY
Initiative Offers Hourly, On-Call or Variable Mechanical Maintenance Services
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – June 22, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) –Commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. has launched its Mobile Engineering and Maintenance services platform in New Jersey. This program, spearheaded by the firm’s Corporate Occupier & Investor Services Group (CIS), provides variable and affordable repair and maintenance services to owners and tenants of commercial, industrial and retail properties.
Cushman & Wakefield’s facility and property management services have traditionally provided engineering services for institutional and corporate-owned properties. The Mobile Engineering and Maintenance services platform extends the same level of service on an adaptable basis. “We are providing property owners and tenants of commercial real estate buildings that do not warrant full-time, on-site staff, the benefit of fast, quality repair and maintenance services at an affordable price,” explained Eileen Carey, managing director of CIS Mobile Engineering and Maintenance. “This service also responds to the needs of retail tenants with single and multiple locations that need routine maintenance service. While they may currently utilize several different contractors, we provide a one-stop solution.”
Available services include general building repair, preventive maintenance and repair of building systems (i.e. HVAC, electrical, lighting and plumbing). The team can also perform energy audits and property inspections for absentee owners and tenants. The scope of services can be customized to accommodate the specific needs of each client, according to Carey.
“The need for on-call, a la carte service has grown dramatically as property owners and tenants attempt to reduce their operating overhead,” she said. “Our Mobile Engineering and Maintenance offering is completely flexible and scalable to each client. The goal is to deliver superior service on an as-needed basis at a reasonable price. For us, this platform opens the door to support an entirely new population of customers in New Jersey.” Services performed by Cushman & Wakefield’s maintenance mechanics and mobile technicians are billed at an hourly rate or at an agreed upon fixed fee. Materials are passed through with no mark-up to the client.
Cushman & Wakefield Mobile Engineering and Maintenance already is established in several regions across the United States. The company currently employs more than 1,300 stationary and mobile engineers across 36 states and maintains a property and facility management portfolio exceeding 450 million square feet. The program is led by Terry Nielsen and Tiza Peterson, who have a combined 30 years of property and facility management experience.
“The systems, fleets, skilled professionals, and track record for impeccable service and cost reduction are in place,” Nielsen said. “Now we are expanding the mobile platform into select, key markets.”
According to Gil Medina, Cushman & Wakefield’s New Jersey executive managing director, the Garden State is a natural fit for the program. “New Jersey’s suburban office and industrial inventory includes a large number of investment properties, portfolios and owner-occupied buildings,” he said. “We also have many multi-location regional businesses and a vast retail population of franchise and chain-store tenants responsible for maintaining their own spaces. Our leasing and investment sales brokers maintain deep relationships within this context. They are thrilled to be able to offer mobile maintenance as yet another value-add proposition to their clients and prospective clients.”
