Honorees Include Inaugural Inductees into the Chapter’s New Hall of Fame

SHORT HILLS, N.J. – November 10, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — More than 250 commercial real estate professionals were on hand for the 7th Annual President’s Awards Dinner of NAIOP New Jersey, the commercial real estate development association, honoring the accomplishments of chapter members. The event also marked the induction of the initial three members of the chapter’s Hall of Fame, established this year.

“NAIOP is truly a member-driven association,” said NJ Chapter President George D. Sowa of Brandywine Realty Trust. “It is fitting that we establish a Hall of Fame and are proud to honor the first three inductees.”

The inaugural Hall of Fame inductees include Richard F.X. Johnson of Matrix Development Group; Richard M. Maser of Maser Consulting; and Geoffrey L. Schubert of CB Richard Ellis.

The evening’s honorees also included Peter Cocoziello of Advance Realty Group, who garnered the chapter’s Legacy Award; Gretchen S. Wilcox of GS Wilcox & Co., Inc., winner of the Pillar Award; and Michael E. Rothpletz, Jr. of Drinker Biddle & Reath, accorded the Advocacy Award. George Livanos of Sax Macy Fromm & Co. received the Volunteer of the Year Award; and Andrew Houston of Cassidy Turley was honored with the chapter’s Rising Star Award.

“As we reflect on all that has been accomplished by our honorees, who are a remarkable group, I would also like to thank each member who takes the time to get involved, whether contributing technical expertise, speaking at an event, writing out a check to DPAC, calling our legislators, or volunteering for our community action project,” said Sowa.

For the second year in a row, the community action project was a Volunteer Day in July to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside, and it provided “a dramatic increase in participation from the previous year,” reported Janet Proscia of Cronheim Mortgage Corp. and chairman of the chapter’s Community Action Committee. The President’s Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner extended that project, featuring Tools 4 Schools, a collection of donations of funds and school supplies to benefit the Foodbank’s Kids Division.

Co-chaired by past presidents Anne Evans Estabrook of Elberon Development Co. and Jeff Milanaik of Heller Industrial Parks, the event also included presentation of the Frank D. Visceglia Memorial Scholarship in support of educational opportunities for Eagle Scouts. The scholarship, presented by Milanaik and by Nicole Visceglia-Rodgers, was awarded to Charles Scully of Mahwah, N.J., currently a student at Northeastern University. His Eagle project was a 50-foot section of the re-routed Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain.

“Our honorees have made significant contributions to this chapter and to the real estate industry,” said Michael McGuinness chief executive officer of NAIOP NJ. “As an industry, we continue to face challenges, and NAIOP NJ will remain a staunch advocate for New Jersey’s entire business community.”
