Berry Lane Park, in Jersey City, Slated for Completion by End of 2015

LITTLE FALLS, NJ – June 25, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — MAST Construction Services, Inc. (www.mastconstruction.com), an award-winning, Little Falls, NJ-based project and construction management services and owner’s representative firm, today announced that it is serving as the construction manager for the fourth phase, a $10.5 million project, of one of New Jersey’s most high profile public park projects: Berry Lane Park. Situated at 1 Berry Road in Jersey City, between Garfield Avenue and Woodward Street, the 17.5-acre park is undergoing a conversion which will turn the former brownfield site, previously home to industrial yards, facilities and warehouses, into recreational space for Jersey City residents to enjoy.

The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency has engaged MAST to oversee the fourth phase of construction, which began in February of this year and is slated for completion by year’s end. The large scale conversion commenced back in August 2012 and is part of a planned greenway that will be built along the route of the former Morris Canal, just south of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station. A variety of grants helped to fund the project, including awards from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Hudson County, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Plans call for: a pavilion; two basketball courts; two tennis courts; a fitness activity area; children’s playground; a baseball field; a synthetic turf field for soccer, football, lacrosse, cricket and rugby; and a “splash pad” water play park. The park also boasts 600 new trees, energy-efficient lighting fixtures and a variety of sidewalks and roadway improvements.

“It is an honor to have a role in Berry Lane’s massive transformation and in coordinating the various parties to work together cohesively toward this common goal,” adds MAST Founder and President Ted Domuracki, who notes that the park’s new elements will comingle with older, preserved or modified structures.

In addition to coordinating all efforts with the ownership, MAST is working alongside engineers Dresdner Robin on the project.
