Building a Better America Together

Rep. Norcross: “This is an investment in our greatest resource– the American worker.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ-01) today led a new effort in the U.S. House of Representatives to bring attention to the conditions of millions of hardworking American men and women who are literally working to build and maintain our country.

Rep. Norcross, an electrician by trade, joined with Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (WV-01), who worked & taught in the construction industry, to launch the Congressional Building Trades Caucus. The bipartisan effort brings together Members of Congress from both sides of aisle to discuss issues that affect the millions of men and women who work in the construction industry.

“The Building Trades Caucus unites us by speaking to our shared values. The work of this Caucus is to invest in our greatest resource, the American worker. When America ‘works,’ we are a better and stronger nation. We need to ensure our workforce and our nation have a strong foundation in order to thrive,” said Rep. Donald Norcross.

“In order to get things done in Congress it’s important to find common ground. That’s the intent of the Building Trades Caucus. It will serve as a platform to bring Republicans and Democrats together with business and labor on issues that matter to all of us, like investing in our roads and bridges and water infrastructure. We look forward to being a voice for the millions of construction workers who keep our economy moving,” said Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E.

Congressmen Norcross & McKinley created the Caucus to educate fellow Members, Congressional staff, and policymakers about the building trades and their priorities. Both are encouraging colleagues to bring labor and industry stakeholders together to find areas of agreement and foster cooperation, and identify ways to expand opportunities for more Americans through workforce training.
