CLINTON, N.J. – February 3, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — A veteran real estate advertising and marketing executive has joined Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co. as a regional director of business development.

Debbie Cangi, of Monroe Twp., comes to Max Spann from The Star-Ledger, where she worked for 26 years as an advertising account executive specializing in servicing the print and internet advertising needs of the New Jersey real estate community.

“We’re thrilled to have Debbie on our team,” said Max Spann Jr., the president and chief executive officer of the firm. “She has always been passionate about working within the real estate community and has been especially creative in helping clients achieve sales goals during challenging times.”

During her career, Cangi has worked with new home builders, property managers, commercial and industrial real estate developers and brokers as a dedicated and trusted marketing team member. Representing NJ.com, the state’s largest website, she offered digital advertising opportunities including impression campaigns, search marketing, behavioral targeting and interactive programs.

Cangi got her start in Hudson County at Pictorial Newspapers, which was owned by her father, David Cangi. The chain of weekly newspapers was sold in 1984 and is now known as the Hudson Reporter Group.

Cangi is a member of New Jersey Builders Association, the Shore Builders Association of Central Jersey, and ICREW (Industrial & Commercial Executive Women). She is a licensed real estate salesperson in New Jersey.

In 2007, Cangi was honored with the Individual Outstanding Achievement award by the Shore Builders Association of Central Jersey. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montclair State University.

Spann said the contacts and skills she acquired during her career will be an asset to the firm as she develops new business opportunities. The firm has seen its business grow tenfold in the past five years as it expanded nationally from its base in the Northeast. In order to serve its growing national clientele, the firm recently opened an office on Lexington Avenue in New York City, in the heart of the financial, real estate and legal industries.

Max Spann, which was founded in 1890, specializes in auctioning high-quality real estate through an accelerated marketing program that creates a sense of urgency in the marketplace, allowing sellers to control the timing and sale of their properties. In an uncertain real estate market, the popularity of auctions has grown because bidders can buy quickly, efficiently and at prices they determine.

Spann said he believes auctions will continue to be a popular way to sell even after the market recovers, especially for properties that are hard to evaluate, such as unique luxury homes and apartments and development sites where there are competing views about the best uses for the property.
