Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo Goes Green

-

Edison, NJ – November 6, 2008  – (RealEstateRama) –  In response to growing consumer demand for environmentally friendly homes and building practices, the New Jersey, New York State and Pennsylvania associations of REALTORS® are providing their members with the opportunity to earn the new NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®‘ (NAR) Green Designation. During the Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo, REALTORS® will be able to take a designation course that provides an in-depth understanding of “what green means” for every aspect of real estate.

The Green Designation program has been carefully developed to educate REALTORS® about how the green movement is transforming the needs and concerns of buyers and sellers, as well as how REALTORS® can integrate green practices in their day-to-day business activities. To earn the designation, REALTORS® must complete the two-day core course plus one elective. The two-day core course is scheduled for Monday, December 8, and Tuesday, December 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The program is designed to help REALTORS®:

  • Understand what makes a property green.
  • Explain to clients and customers the cost benefits of green building features and practices.
  • Distinguish between industry rating and classification systems.
  • List and market green homes and buildings.
  • Discuss the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners.
  • Guide buyers in purchasing resource-efficient homes.

In keeping with the green theme, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be the Grand Assembly keynote speaker at Triple Play. In his presentation “A Contract with Our Future,” Kennedy will offer advice on how businesses can utilize sound environmental policies and procedures to grow, save money and help preserve the environment for the future. Additionally, all Triple Play REALTOR® Convention & Trade Expo materials are printed on recycled paper.

Throughout November, REALTORS® recognize Designation Awareness Month, a time to encourage members to start, continue or complete the courses leading to one of the official NAR-endorsed designations or certifications. In addition to the brand new Green Designation, Triple Play offers members the opportunity to earn credit towards other designations including: Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR); Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB); Certified Residential Specialist (CRS); and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
