New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA) Executive Director Anthony L. Marchetta today joined local officials and representatives of the Orange Housing Development Corporation, The Alpert Group, LLC, and the City of Orange Township to celebrate the official grand opening of Walter G. Alexander Village, Phase III. The third and final phase of the award-winning affordable apartment community includes 42 units, 5 of which are set aside for special needs and homeless families.

Proposed Bill Strengthens Building Construction in New Jersey

A bill introduced in the New Jersey state legislature would require more fire resistant materials to be used in construction, as to avoid disasters seen in the Avalon at Edgewater fire. Last week Maria Rodriguez-Gregg (R) and Joseph Lagana (D) introduced Bill A4626, which includes several measures for fire-safe construction and building materials in certain multifamily residential buildings.

More Than 100 Paterson Preschoolers to Receive Free Backpacks and School Supplies

For many of New Jersey Community Development Corporation’s (NJCDC) youngest students, the first few days of school can be a difficult transition--especially if they are just starting preschool and this will be their first time away from their parents. NJCDC is providing a boost for the three- and four- year old students at their preschool, Paterson Family Center (PFC), by giving the young students backpacks and school supplies to help get the 2016-2017 school year off to a great start.

NJBIA Applauds Funding for Sandy-related Water Projects

The New Jersey Business & Industry Association today applauded the approval of funds for water infrastructure projects throughout the state, saying it addresses a critical need. The Assembly Budget Committee released two bills (A-3883 and A-3884) that would appropriate more than $400 million from the NJ Environmental Infrastructure Trust for low-interest loans to pay for drinking water and clean water projects, as well as combined sewer overflow abatement projects.

Hudson County Homeless Prevention Efforts in Spotlight
