|WHAT:||Washington, DC – (RealEstateRama) — In celebration of Global YouthBuild Day, all around the country YouthBuild programs, students, graduates, and volunteers will be working together to make a positive impact within their community.
YouthBuild is a national program that offers high school dropouts the chance to earn an equivalency diploma at the same time they learn construction skills by building affordable housing. For almost 20 years, NJCDC has been operating a YouthBuild program in Paterson for students ages 18-24.
NJCDC’s YouthBuild students will spend this day conducting a variety of cleanup, landscaping, and painting activities in Westside Park surrounding the Shohid Minar Bengali Monument that NJCDC constructed a couple of years ago.
At 1 p.m., we will hold a brief ceremony celebrating the impact of YouthBuild in Paterson. In addition, YouthBuild program participants will pay tribute to Ka’Sir Davis, a member of this year’s YouthBuild class who was tragically taken from us earlier this year,

|WHO:||NJCDC’s YouthBuild program is a youth and community development program that provides a meaningful “second chance” for area youth to earn their diploma and a construction industry-recognized certificate—in an effort to help them find long-term, living-wage jobs. Based on a national model, the year-long program empowers youth to rebuild themselves as they rebuild their communities through a combination of work, education, service, and leadership development.|
|WHY:||Global YouthBuild Day is the perfect time to celebrate the impact NJCDC’s YouthBuild program has had in Paterson. The program has helped hundreds of Paterson young adults, and once a year we pause to celebrate its accomplishments. It is also the ideal time to pay tribute to Ka’Sir Davis, whose death left a major void in the hearts of his family, peers, and our organization.|
