Menendez, Booker Announce $14.7M in Federal Grants for NJ Fire Departments

U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced a combined $14,732,042 in federal grants to hire more firefighters and improve safety and operations in local fire departments across New Jersey. The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) and Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) programs are administered by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

Smith, NJ Delegation Urge HUD Waiver for Sandy Victims

All the Members of the New Jersey Congressional Delegation sent a letter today to Secretary Julián Castro of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) urging him to exercise his authority to prevent further delays in the distribution of federal disaster assistance to victims of Superstorm Sandy. Without such action, payouts received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Sandy Claims Review and grants that are awarded with Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Relief (CDBG-DR) funds would be subject to a complex and costly duplication of benefits analysis

Freeholders Approve Buyouts of Flood-Prone Lincoln Park Homes

The Morris County Freeholders have approved a $416,000 grant allocation to buyout four more flood-threatened residential properties in the Lincoln Park under the county’s innovative Flood Mitigation Program, which has previously approved $4.5 million to partially fund purchases of 51 homes in seven towns.
