During his comments Mayor Mark Smith encouraged new and creative ideas that will “transform the waterfront and make us the jewel of New York Harbor.” He also assured everyone that those responding to the City’s Request for Expressions of Interest will not be alone in the process. He added that “with exciting and innovative projects in every corner, there has never been a more exciting time in the City of Bayonne from a development standpoint and I stand committed to being a part of this project every step of the way.”

Bayonne offers 55 acres of undeveloped land on the New York Harbor with direct access to highways, Hudson Bergen Light Rail and Cape Liberty Cruise Port, all immediately available for development. Successful respondents will have an opportunity to present their vision to develop a vibrant extension of our community including hotels, residential, retail, hospitality, cultural and residential space. A copy of the Request for Expressions of Interests, with responses due by January 31, 2014, is available by contacting Jong Sook Nee, Partner, McManimon Scotland & Baumann, at (973) 622-4868.

“It was clear from the enthusiasm in the room and the questions asked that the developer community is excited about this opportunity to start with a blank slate and create a vibrant extension to the Bayonne community,” said Mayor Mark Smith. “This was the first step in a long process that my Administration is committed to seeing through to its completion.”
