Four Hunterdon County farms to be sold at auction
Westfield, MA - January 29, 2010 - (RealEstateRama) — Four preserved farms in New Jersey ranging in size from 29 to 84 acres will be sold at auction next month.
Max Spann Real Estate & Auction Co., a national auctioneer of elite properties, has scheduled an auction at 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Readington Municipal Building, 599 Route 523, Whitehouse Station, N.J.
The farms are located in the picturesque countryside of Hunterdon County, one of the most desirable locations in New Jersey. Readington is renowned for its clean country living, excellent schools and strong community spirit.
“These farms offer a rich connection with New Jersey’s agricultural heritage and will be forever preserved as part of our state’s green future,” said Max Spann, Jr., the auctioneer. “Owners of these farms will be part of a growing movement to ensure New Jersey remains the Garden State.”
The farms have all been preserved under the state’s Farmland Preservation Program, which places a deed restriction on the property to prevent future commercial and residential development.
The smallest farm, at 19 Summer Road, is 29 acres and is perfect for horses or agricultural uses. The next largest, at 757 Route 202, is 52.68 acres, with nearly 80 percent of the land classified as prime soil. A home site is conveniently set back for privacy.
A 62.32-acre farm on 1069 River Avenue offers a prime setting on a country lane with a two-acre homesite. A stream runs through the corner of the property.
The largest farm, at 84.02 acres, is located at 72 Lazy Brook Road and offers a private country setting. The country home is ready for renovation.
Spann said preview dates have been scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6 and Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Readington is located close to Somerville and Flemington and major highways, including Routes 202, 31, 22, 287 and 78.

Those are going to catch some big money even in the current housing climate. I grew up in close to Hunterdon county and I’m certain that those farms are gorgeous.
