COMPANY WINS SIX AWARDS FOR EXCEPTIONAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AvalonBay Communities, Inc. (NYSE: AVB) received top honors from the New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) at the 14th Annual Garden State Awards banquet, held on October 11th in recognition of outstanding performance in New Jersey property management. AvalonBay received the prestigious Management Company of the Year (1500 – 5000 units), as well as five other awards for superior performance from its nationally recognized management team.

AvalonBay was recognized earlier this year as the recipient of the 2007 Property Management Company of the Year award from the National Association of Home Builders for excellence in property management.

Each year, the NJAA honors outstanding performers in several categories. AvalonBay was nominated in 15 categories, including Management Company of the Year. A panel of industry professionals selected this year’s winners from hundreds of entries. A complete list of the awards received by AvalonBay is listed below:

Regional Manager of the Year:

Maintenance Supervisor of the Year:

Most Supportive On-Site Staff Member of the Year:
A.J. Summa – Avalon at Aberdeen Station
